Suspect in connection to fatal Sheridan Twp. fire charged with murder.

LUDINGTON — A 41-year-old Chippewa County woman, who was originally arrested as a person of interest in connection to a fatal fire that took place in Sheridan Township in November 2021 has been arraigned on three felony charges including homicide – open murder, first degree homicide, and first degree arson. Hope Lynn Snyder of 81 Kincheloe Drive, Kincheloe, was arraigned today in Mason County’s 79th District Court.

On Nov. 22, 2021 Jeffrey Grant, 57, of Fountain, died in a house fire at 3746 N. Morse Road in Sheridan Township. Snyder was arrested a few days later and on Nov. 28, 2021 was arraigned for unlawfully driving away an automobile, a vehicle that had allegedly been stolen from the scene.

Mason County Undersheriff Derrek Wilson said a press conference has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 23 at the sheriff’s office to discuss the case. 

Snyder was originally being held on $25,000 cash bail but that bail has now been revoked. A probable cause hearing has been set for 1 p.m. on March 30.
