Fire destroys Branch Township house.

BRANCH TOWNSHIP — Fire destroyed a house at 823 N. Benson Road Monday morning. Firefighters were initially dispatched to the scene at 8:39 a.m. Upon arrival the house was fully engulfed in flames. A passerby discovered the fire and assisted one male who had been in the house. According to a Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputy on scene, the man was about 40-years-old. He was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.

The fire destroyed the house along with at least one car. Responding emergency units included Branch Township Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, Fountain Area Fire Department, Scottville Fire Department, Life EMS, and Mason County Sheriff’s Office. Fountain Fire Department Auxiliary and Mason County Animal Control were also on scene.
