LUDINGTON — The following criminal proceedings recently took place in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

Felonies

Daugherty

-James Russell Daugherty, 66, of 3624 W. Forest Hill Circle, Amber Township, was arrested Feb. 28 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on felony charges of interfering with an electronic communications device, second offense domestic violence, fourth offense habitual offender and disorderly person disturbing the peace. Probable cause hearing: March 16 at 1 p.m. Bail: $25,000 cash.

McLain

-Destiny Marie McLain, 23, of 1041 Pineway St., Ludington, was arrested March 2 by Michigan State Police (MSP) on a felony charge of first degree retail fraud. Probable cause hearing: March 16 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000 personal recognizance.

Somsel

-Michael Joseph Somsel, 35, of 756 N. Meyers Rd., Amber Township, was arrested March 3 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy). Probable cause hearing: March 16 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000 personal recognizance.

Collins

-Shawn Michael Tacktor Collins, 35, of 4851 N. Cleveland St., Fountain, was arrested March 1 by MCSO on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy) and possession of a controlled substance (narcotic/cocaine). Probable cause hearing: March 16 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000 cash.

Krieger

-Austin Robert Krieger, 21, of 11762 Sunset Glen, Allendale, was arrested Feb. 28 by Scottville Police Department (SPD) on two felony counts of uttering and publishing. Probable cause hearing: March 16 at 1 p.m. Bail: $500 cash.

Misdemeanors

-Carl Lee Herring, 31, of 415 S. Hart St., Hart; March 1; Ludington Police Department (LPD); assault and battery. Pretrial: March 14 at 11 a.m. Bail: $250 cash.

Sentencings

-Jason Edward Ells, 37, of 743 N. Martin Luther King Blvd, Lansing, pleaded guilty March 2 to operating a vehicle with a high blood alcohol content and was sentenced to 150 days in jail with credit for 143 days served; 180 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random breath tests and drug tests; must continue current counseling program; and $310 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS). A charge of OUIL with child endangerment was dismissed.

Dismissals

-Jessy Lee Avra, 46, homeless, had a charge of disorderly drunk person dismissed on Feb. 22 as part of a felony plea agreement.
