LUDINGTON — A 45-year-old Ludington man pleaded guilty to larceny by conversion $1,000-$20,000 in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, March 1.

David Duane Bothwell, of 801 E. Loomis St., faces serving a one-year jail term for the conviction.

The Feb. 26, 2021 offense involved a Ford Windstar minivan, said Mason County Assistant Prosecutor Beth Hand.

Bothwell has a long criminal history involving prison terms for absconding bond, home invasion, uttering and publishing, breaking and entering of a vehicle and car theft, according to Michigan Department of Corrections records.

Sentencing is set for April 26 at 1 p.m.

Bothwell, who has been incarcerated in the Mason County Jail for several months, has about a month left of his sentence to serve, said his attorney Ashley Siegel. The attorney made a motion to reduce her client’s bond to personal recognizance, but Judge Susan K. Sniegowski denied it.
