Morning crash with farm equipment results in minor injuries. 

FREE SOIL TOWNSHIP — A crash involving farm equipment shut down parts of US 31 earlier today. Emergency crews were dispatched in the 7100 block of US 31 near Freeman Road at 7:41 a.m. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, the crash occurred when a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by a 35-year-old Ludington man, was northbound on US 31 and rear-ended a corn header being pulled by a Dodge Ram pickup truck. 

The driver of the Silverado received minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital. His vehicle suffered extensive damage. The corn header received minor injuries, Cole said. 

Responding emergency units included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Free Soil/Meade Fire Department, Grant Township Fire Department, and Life EMS.
