Children’s museum receives $5,000 grant for 3D printing.

LUDINGTON — Sandcastles Children’s Museum announced today that it has been awarded a grant of $5,000 from the Community Foundation for Mason County.

The purpose of the grant is two-fold:  to fund “Design and Build 3D” STEAM workshops on 3D Printing with a 3D printer and 3D pens, and to cover the cost of a plexiglass surround for a new 3D Printing exhibit in the museum.

“We are very grateful to be funded once again by the Community Foundation,” said Sandcastles Children’s Museum’s Executive Director Kristin Korendyke. “We received a 3D printer from a 23e grant earlier this year, and this $5,000 grant will help us utilize this technology by offering classes as well as creating an exhibit to allow children to watch the 3D printer in action. This grant helps Sandcastles in our mission to inspire kids and help them discover new skills, and we appreciate the support of the Community Foundation for Mason County.”

The 3D Printing Exhibit will be built this winter and 3D Printing classes will be offered over spring break as well as over the summer.
