Deer hunter, 48, found dead under tree stand.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — A 48-year-old deer hunter was found dead under his tree stand Thursday, Oct. 14, shortly after 10 p.m. in the 4700 block of West Decker Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

Emergency crews were called to the scene for a reported DOA (dead on arrival) of a hunter, said Sheriff Cole.

“Deputies arrived to find a 48-year-old Ludington man deceased under his tree stand. The stand was located approximately 20 feet in the tree with his hunting gear still in the stand.

“His wife, who went to check on her husband after he failed to return for an evening of hunting, found the victim.

“The case remains under investigation pending autopsy reports but no foul play is suspected,” said Sheriff Cole.
