Sculpture commemorating Johnny’s Bandstand to be dedicated Oct. 3.

CUSTER — A sculpture commemorating Johnny’s Bandstand will be dedicated at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3. The sculpture, located on South Main Street in the village, will be the latest installment in the Mason County Sculpture Trail. Donations paid for the majority of the funds used to purchase it.

Arizona artist Tyson Snow created the sculpture and will be at the dedication. Keynote speaker will be Scottville native Edgar Struble, a producer in the music industry whose career included music director for Kenny Rogers. State Sen. Curt VanderWall and State Rep. Jack O’Malley are also expected.

The sculpture committee is still in need of $6,000 to $8,000 to cover other aspects of the project. Donations can be made to Community Foundation for Mason County (CFFMC), PO Box 10 Ludington 49431; noting Custer Sculpture on the check or to Custer Sculpture PO Box 37 Custer, 49405.
