Safe Harbor Credit Union celebrates new building.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Safe Harbor Credit Union employees, board members and members celebrated the credit union’s new building today at 5511 W. US 10. Construction on the building started on July 31, 2020 and was completed earlier this summer.

Guests were treated to a pig roast, and special gifts. The pig was purchased during the recent West Michigan Livestock Council auction at the Western Michigan Fair.

SHCU President and CEO Adam Johnson said 65% of the construction on the building was completed using local subcontractors.

Johnson said members numbers have increased at the credit union, which formerly was located at 1200 E. Tinkham Ave. The credit union was originally the Dow employees credit union and was located at Dow Chemical in Ludington’s Fourth Ward.

“With our unprecedented growth the past few years, we’ve been lucky enough to increase the number of team members here on staff,” Johnson said. “We ran out of room at our Tinkham Avenue location, so this new building allows us to better serve our members, and provides a better work environment for our dedicated staff.”
