Suspect arrested following multi-county high-speed chase.

SCOTTVILLE — A 19-year-old Muskegon man is lodged in the Mason County Jail following a high-speed police chase through Mason, Oceana and Muskegon counties early Thursday morning, Aug. 19, according to Scottville Police Chief Matt Murphy.

“At approximately 12:35 a.m. on Aug. 19, 2021, the Scottville Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle speeding within the city limits,” states Chief Murphy in a press release. “The vehicle would not comply and fled west down US 10 at speeds over 100 mph. The Scottville Police Department was immediately assisted by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in the pursuit.

“The pursuit continued onto US 31 south through Oceana and into Muskegon County,” said Murphy, “where the vehicle finally stopped after two separate stop sticks were deployed.”

Assisting agencies include: Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office, Pentwater Police Department, Shelby Police Department and Hart Police Department.

“I would like to thank all of the agencies involved that helped bring this situation to a safe ending,” said Chief Murphy.
