LUDINGTON — The following criminal cases recently took place in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

Felonies

Gibson

-David Lawrence Gibson, 53, of 2235 West St., Central Lake, was arrested Aug. 3 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy), uttering and publishing, and resisting/opposing arrest causing injury. Probable cause hearing: Aug. 18 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $5,000 cash.

Babcock

-Melanie Sue Babcock, 40, of 201 N. William St., Ludington, was arrested April 14 by the Ludington Police Department (LPD) on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy). Probable cause hearing: Aug. 18 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance.

Lange

-John Edward Lange, 19, homeless, was arrested Aug. 7 by the Ludington Police Department (LPD) on a felony charge of possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy) and breaking and entering a vehicle to steal personal property. Probable cause hearing: Aug. 18 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $1,000 cash.

Lifer

-Morgan Ashley-Kay Lifer, 32, of 6213 E. Hansen Rd., Branch Township, was arrested Aug. 10 by MCSO on a felony charge of larceny by conversion between $1,00 to $20,000. Probable cause hearing: Aug. 25 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $500 cash.

-Michael Gregory Brault, 33, of 621 E. Dowland St., Ludington, was arrested Aug. 5 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy). Probable cause hearing: TBD. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance.

Misdemeanors

-Jessie James Outcalt, 40, of 161 N. Jackpine Rd., Branch Township; Aug. 6; MCSO; assault and battery. Pretrial: Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance. 

-Alexis Olivia Weathers, 24, of 1857 Kennedy Blvd., Hamlin Township; June 17; Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO); domestic violence. Pretrial: Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance.

-Bret Allen Whitsell, 59, of 110 E. Melendy St., Ludington; Aug. 5; MCSO; operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) and transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle. Pretrial: Sept. 20 at 1:45 p.m. Bail: $500 cash.

-Rayanne Grace McLain, 19, of 405 S. Elm St., Scottville; Aug. 4; Scottville Police Department (SPD); two counts of domestic violence. Pretrial: Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance. 

-Scott Gale VandVelde, 51, of 803 S. Madison St., Ludignton; Aug. 4; Ludington Police Department (LPD); operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .17 or greater. Pretrial: Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. Bail: $500 cash.

-Michael Ray O’Connell, 74, of 240 Sherman Oaks Ln., Apt. 243, Ludington; Aug. 5; LPD, OWI. Pretrial: Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. Bail: $250 cash.

-Collin Christopher Drake, 26, of 6060 N. Stiles Rd., Victory Township; Aug. 4; MCSO; domestic violence. Pretrial: Aug. 23 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $250 cash.

-Dealan Michael Stinson, 24, of 930 Eighth St., Baldwin; July 21; LPD; assault and battery. Pretrial: Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. Bail: $250 cash.

-Breanna Leigh Bowman, 38, of 505 S. Washington Ave., Ludington; Aug. 9; LPD; domestic violence. Pretrial: Aug. 23 at 2:15 p.m. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance.

Sentencings

-Guadalupe Zamora Rangel, 72, of 115 N. Emily St., Ludington, pleaded guilty Aug. 5 to larceny less than $200 and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; $125 in fines/costs and $72 in restitution. He also pleaded guilty to possession deer without a valid license and was sentenced to pay $3,625 in fines/costs/restitution and may not possess a hunting license until 2024. Charges of illegally taking a deer and hunting without a license were dismissed. 

-Brion Burk Fox, 25, of 2808 Woodcliffe Dr., Muskegon, pleaded guilty Aug. 10 to driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to pay $285 in fines/costs. A charge of failure to report an accident was dismissed. 

-Kenneth Lee Kohl, 54, of 5431 W. Snead Rd., Pere Marquette Township, pleaded guilty Aug. 10 to operating a vehicle while under the influence of liquor (OUIL) and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs; must attend victim’s impact panel; must have a substance abuse evaluation; must attend AA two times per week for 60 days; and $1,070 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).

-Amber Marie Risteau-Juracko, 33, of 2235 West St., Central Lake, pleaded guilty Aug. 10 to disorderly drunk person and was sentenced to eight days in jail with credit for eight days served.

-Fredrick Arthur Collins, 64, of 4851 Cleveland St., Fountain, pleaded no contest Aug. 10 to trespassing and was sentenced to pay $285 in fines/costs.

-Coleen Ruth Cameron, 63, of 1505 Betty Ave., Ludington, pleaded no contest Aug. 10 to two counts of moving violation causing serious impairment of body function and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year and $1,235 in fines/costs. May perform 124 hours of community service in lieu of paying fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Blake Thomas Alvesteffer, 24, of 5656 S. Eden Lake Rd., Eden Township, pleaded guilty Aug. 10 to DWLS and was sentenced to two days in jail; one year discretionary jail for one year and $185 in fines/costs.

-Andrea Mae Dodd, 37, of 4959 N. Foster St., Fountain, pleaded guilty Aug. 10 to embezzlement and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail for one year and $520.72 in fines/costs/restitution. A charge of second degree retail fraud was dismissed.

Dismissals

-Angela Lynn Reterstoff, 44, of 123 W. Broadway, Scottville, had a charge of truancy dismissed on Aug. 5.
