PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The truck and tractor pull grandstand event, scheduled for tonight at the Western Michigan Fair has been cancelled, due to possible inclement weather. The weather forecast is calling for scattered thunderstorms beginning at 6 p.m.

Weather has already caused chaos with the pre-fair harness racing, which has been postponed twice and now is currently, tentatively, rescheduled for Sunday, Aug. 15 and Monday, Aug. 16. The truck and tractor pull will not be rescheduled, according to Marcia Hansen, spokesperson for the Western Michigan Fair Association.

As of this posting, fireworks scheduled for this evening are still planned.

Today is the first day of the fair with the midway opening at 3 p.m. Today is Dollar Day, fair entrance is $1 per person. Rides from 3 to 11 p.m. are one ticket each. Tickets are $1 each; a wristband is available for unlimited rides, 3 to 11 p.m., $25.
