PM Township board considering rental cancellation policy.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Pere Marquette Charter Township Board of Trustees will consider creating a refund policy for its parks when it meets on Tuesday, Aug. 10. The policy creation stemmed from a request from a park user who had requested a refund of a reservation fee. When researching cancellations, Treasurer Kari Bleau discovered the township’s park rental agreements state there is a seven-day minimum cancellation policy. But, an actual policy, adopted by the board of trustees, cannot be found, meaning any cancellation requests would need to come in front of the board.

As a result, the board will consider the following cancellation policies:

Pavilion rental: Cancellations made up to the day of the event will receive a 100% refund. No refunds will be given if the notice of cancellation is given after the event. Cancellation refunds will not be transferred to events in future years. Reservation will be taken beginning Jan. 1 for the current year.

Hall rental: Cancellations made up to the day of the event will receive a 100% refund. No refunds will be given if the notice of cancellation is given after the event. Cancellation refunds will not be transferred to events in future years. Reservation will be taken beginning Jan. 1 for the current year.

Daily campsite rental: Cancellations result in loss of payment. No refunds for any reason. Reservation can be rescheduled and payment applied to new reservation for the current year.

Seasonal campground rental: Cancellations made prior to opening day, May 15, will receive a 75% refund. Cancellations made between May 15 and June 30, 50% refund will be considered by park manager and township supervisor on a case-by-case basis. Cancellations made after July 1 will not receive a refund.

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. at the township hall, 1699 S. Pere Marquette Highway.
