Big Sable bus day is July 8.

LUDINGTON — The next Big Point Sable Lighthouse bus day will be Thursday, July 8. Bus day allows visitors to ride a bus out to the lighthouse, located in the northern portion of Ludington State Park. Normally, the lighthouse is only accessible to visitors by walking or bicycling.

“Our mission continues to be to preserve, promote and educated the public and to make our lighthouses accessible to all,” said Peter Manting, executive director of the Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association. “Helping us meet that mission is the scheduling of bus days out to the Big Sable Lighthouse making a way for people who might not want to or cannot walk out to the lighthouses much easier.”  For those who are coming out to see the lighthouse and enjoy the day. Lighthouse music fan favorite, the Rough and Tumble will be performing that day.

Prolific song writers, performers and born travelers; Pennsylvania-born Mallory Graham and California-born Scott Tyler have lived in their 16-foot camper since 2015, making tire tracks nationwide since 2011 as a traveling folk-Americana duo. Their history goes back as far as New England in the fall of 2007 and as close as going from friends to bandmates to married bandmates. The story is as linear and circular as any.

The duo will will be preforming from 1 to 3 pm.

The round-trip bus transportation is offered from noon to 5 p.m. Buses load by the house next to the park rangers office inside the Ludington State Park. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 12 and younger.
