Obituary: Lisa Marie Fredericks, 48, of Broomfield, Colo., formerly of Mt. Pleasant.

Lisa Marie Fredericks, D.V.M., 48 of Broomfield, Colorado, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on April 10, 2021 following a brief, but fierce and courageous battle with cancer. Lisa is survived by her parents, Arthur and Karen Fredericks of Scottville; her sisters Farrah (Craig) Merges of Midland, and Kika (Brad) Milligan of St. Clair; her nieces Anna and Cora Merges; her nephews Henry and Asher Milligan, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her Colorado Family of friends. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Edward and Eleanore Kolanowski, paternal grandparents, Arthur and Helen Fredericks, uncle, Mark DesCamp, and cousin, John Shumaker.

Lisa was born on September 3, 1972 in Mt. Pleasant, to Arthur and Karen Fredericks. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Mt. Pleasant in 1990, earned her undergraduate degree in pre-veterinary biology from Central Michigan University in 1994, and then went on to obtain her doctor of veterinary medicine degree through the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University, graduating in 1998. She absolutely loved being a veterinarian, working at the Broomfield Veterinary Hospital in Broomfield, Colorado from 1999 until the time of her death. Lisa was a beloved and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend, and veterinarian. She was an avid runner, competing in countless road races and marathons. She absolutely loved living in Colorado, but always called Michigan her home. She also loved reading, listening to her favorite podcasts, cooking, and attending concerts of her favorite bands whenever she had the chance.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Lisa at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with Rev. Wayne Wheeler as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Rickey Cemetery, Amber Township. Friends may greet her family on Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. until time of ceremony at the church.
