Obituary: Robert Savage, 77, of Ludington.

Robert Lee Savage, 77, of Ludington, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021, peacefully in his home. He was born May 12, 1944, in Muskegon to Clarence and Beatrice Pearl (Cook) Savage.

His interests included exploring sandy beaches, dunes, vacant land or any other place that he might discover some history or that special treasure. He also enjoyed exploring the west shores of Michigan with his metal detector, in search of lost coins and small treasures. He always had a slight hope to strike gold.

He spent his life in Ludington, always an early bird, and never failed to take a morning drive to breath in the sights and sounds only a native of Ludington could know. If you were lucky enough to accompany him on his morning cruise, chances were that you would learn a new piece of Ludington’s history. Known by friends and family as Bob or Sav, you could always count on him to ask you how your day was going with a happy grin on his face. He was loving, kind, caring and generous; a man who would truly lend the shirt off his back, and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pearl (Cook) Savage, and his siblings Cleo Kelly, Clarence Savage, Bill Savage and Marge Waldron.

He is survived by his daughters, Christine (Savage) Trombley, Cindy (Savage) Shafer, and Wendy Savage, all of Ludington. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Justin, Aaron, and Megan Trombley, and Cody and Cassidy Shafer; and his sister Sandy (Jeff) Lange.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. His wishes are to be laid to rest amongst the waves of his beloved Great Lake Michigan with an everlasting view of the blue skies and seagulls, which his family members will gracefully embrace in a private setting.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral home of Ludington.
