Ludington man arrested after fleeing from deputy.

SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP — A 44-year-old Ludington man was arrested Wednesday, June 23, 2021 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement and driving while license suspended (DWLS), fifth offense.

According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, the arrest took place at 11:04 p.m. when a sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop of a blue Chevrolet Impala for failing to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle fled from the deputy north of Morse Road from Dewey Road.

The vehicle failed to stop and eventually crossed into Lake County, Cole said.  Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office assisted Mason County deputies during the 34 mile chase, which reached speeds of nearly 100 MPH.  The chase ended when the suspect vehicle failed to stop at the end of a dead end road and struck a tree.  The driver then fled on foot, but was captured after a short foot chase.
