Local business offers golf cart rentals.

Looking for a relaxing ride around the country or in town? Melch’s Cart Sales & Rentals may be what you need. Going into its second year, the business owned by Justin and Ashley Melchert rents four-person golf carts by the day or week. Delivery is free within Mason County with special rates for quantity rentals out-of-county. 

Justin has been working on various small engines most of his life. A few years ago, he purchased a golf cart and started customizing it, which is what inspired him to begin sales and rentals, he said. 

“People started asking me about renting the carts,” he said. “Golf carts and side-by-sides have become a pretty popular form of recreation and there are few places around here that rent carts.” 

Melch’s Cart Sales & Rentals is fully insured but the driver and occupants are responsible for their own safety and for following traffic laws. Justin recommends that those renting be familiar with local ordinances, which can be available by calling the townships or either city in the county. Renters who are camping at local campgrounds also need to make sure rented carts from outside vendors are allowed in those campgrounds. 

In addition to the four-person carts, Justin also has a handicap accessible cart for rent as well. 

“We hope to continue to expand the business and offer more options,” he said.
