Boy, 7, injured after being hit by car.

LUDINGTON — A 7-year-old Grand Haven boy was transported by Life EMS to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Monday, May 17, shortly before 5 p.m. after he was hit by a car on Stearns Outer Drive, according to Cpt. Steve Wietrzykowski of the Ludington Police Department.

The driver, who is an 87-year-old Ludington woman, told police the boy ran out into traffic, and she was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting him. A witness also said the boy ran out into traffic, Wietrzykowski said.

The boy’s injury status was not immediately available. 

Also responding to the scene were the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the Ludington Fire Department.
