Sheriff’s office warns of scammer calling, claiming to be detective.

LUDINGTON — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office has received a call from a citizen reporting that someone has been calling individuals in the area, claiming to be a deputy from the sheriff’s office in order to obtain financial information. A MCSO detective is not doing this, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“Our office will never call anyone to obtain financial information, or ask for payment of anykind over the phone. If you receive a call like this please report this call.”

Those receiving such a call should contact Mason-Oceana 911 at 231-869-5858.
