Library receives grant to help fund summer program.

Mason County District Library is a recipient of a $2,398 Public Library Services grant from the Library of Michigan. Various amounts of the grants have been awarded to 139 public libraries to purchase supplies and materials for increased programming opportunities in their communities this year. 

The grants can be for improved or new programs related to technology, children or teens, or literacy support and range from $500 to $2,500. The total funds awarded are $260,703. The funded programs are a wide range of creative ideas from libraries throughout the state. 

Mason County District Library’s award will fund the Tell Your Tale program this summer. The Tell Your Tale program will encourage students to write a story and convert it to video. Students will receive help and guidance with writing, filming and editing their stories. At the end of the program students will have a complete video and will have hands-on experience with movie editing software.

The Mason County District Library has branches in Scottville and Ludington.
