Repeat offender faces return to prison for stolen snowblower, officer assault.

LUDINGTON — A 46-year-old Muskegon man with a lengthy criminal history faces a prison term of 20 months to 20 years after pleading guilty Tuesday, April 13, in 51st Circuit Court to charges of receiving and concealing stolen property $1,000-$20,000, assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and fourth-offense habitual offender.

Johnathon Dale Moore was arrested last January by the Ludington Police Department after he was found in possession of a stolen Honda snowblower and resisted the officers, said Judge Susan K. Sniegowski.

Moore, who was discharged from prison Aug. 1, 2019, has served five previous prison terms with the Michigan Department of Corrections, according to the Offender Tracking Information System, including:

  • False report of a felony; one year and six months to four years; 2015, Oceana County.
  • Failure to register as a sex offender; one year and three months to four years; 2012; Mason County.
  • Third-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) — victim age 13-15; six to 30 years; 2003; Mason County.
  • Manufacture/delivery of marijuana; two to four years; 1996; Mason County.
  • Breaking and entering an occupied building with intent; three to 10 years; 1996; Mason County. 

Sentencing guidelines in the case are nine to 46 months, said Mason County Prosecutor Lauren Kreinbrink.

Sentencing is set for June 1 at 1:45 p.m.

Moore appeared in court Tuesday from the Mason County Jail via Zoom videoconferencing due to COVID-19.
