Scottville commission to consider hiring local firm to search for new manager.

SCOTTVILLE — The Scottville City Commission is expected to take action tonight to hire Arch Staffing of Ludington to assist with the search for a new city manager. Arch Staffing was the only search service that placed a formal bid to provide services to the city. Since January the city has been out without a city manager following the resignation of Courtney Magaluk.

Arch Staffing is offering to conduct the search for $5,000, which is $12,000 less than the Michigan Municipal League charged the city for its services in 2019.

Currently, Police Chief Matt Murphy has been serving as the city’s acting city manager.

Tonight’s meeting will be conducted online via Zoom beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The commission is also expected to make a decision about the location of its future meetings. Current Michigan health codes limit the amount of people who can attend indoor gatherings, including public meetings. The city hall commissioner chambers are too small so the commission is considering moving future meetings to the former Scottville Optimist Building, which is now owned by the city.
