Scottville police, school respond to suspicious interaction Thursday.

SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central Schools reported, through its app and website, that there was a situation Thursday, March 4, involving a suspicious vehicle and an interaction with some Upper Elementary students who were walking home from school.

Scottville Police Chief Matt Murphy said he coordinated efforts with Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole and MCC Superintendent Jeff Mount to make sure the area was safe and that there was no risk to children.

There was a heavy law enforcement presence near and on the school campuses Friday during drop off and pick up.

“We take these types of calls very serious in our town,” said Scottville Police Chief Matt Murphy. “If anyone is informed of a suspicious situation like this, they should immediately call 911. We have made great efforts over the past year to have a consistent police presence at the schools and we are very thankful for the strong partnership we have formed with Mason County Central.”

Murphy said anyone with any information should call 911.
