Barbara “Barb” “Barbie” Jean LaDere

Obituary: Barbara LaDere, 55, of Ludington.

Barbara “Barb” “Barbie” Jean LaDere, 55, of Ludington, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.  She was born December 14, 1965, in Reed City, the daughter of Daniel and Charlotte (Hegerty) Spencer.

On February 23, 2006, Barb married Robert “Bob” LaDere.  They shared many adventures together and traveled the United States extensively.  Bob’s career as a union carpenter took them to different cities for extended periods of time where Barb’s outgoing personality made it easy for her to find employment as a server, working at various restaurants as well as several casinos.  In her spare time, Barb enjoyed making ceramics, especially ceramic elephants.  She also loved listening to Elvis Presley and Pink Floyd, and shooting pool in several leagues for Bud’s Tap Room.

Barb is survived by her husband, Robert LaDere of Ludington; her mother, Charlotte Spencer of Ludington; her daughter, Jenny (Art) Mendez of Ludington; her son, Dustin Shell of Ludington; her stepdaughter, Tiffany Miller of Ludington; six grandchildren, Destiney Mendez, Ethan Mendez, Jasseri Lehan, Timmy Perry, Konnor Malburg and McKinzie Malburg; her sister, Danielle (Mike) Connolly of Detroit; and her fur-children, Pink and Floyd.

Barb was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Spencer.

Cremation has taken place and a time to celebrate Barb’s life will be held at a later date.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
