Unconscious man in Walmart restroom suspected of ‘huffing.’

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A report will be forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office after Mason County sheriff’s deputies responded to the men’s restroom at Walmart regarding a reported unconscious male who was suspected to have been huffing Friday, Jan. 8, around 5:30 p.m., said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

Deputies found a 25-year-old Ludington man in the restroom with evidence of drug use, said Sheriff Cole.

Huffiing is a term used to describe inhaling the chemical, difluoroethane, from a popular computer-cleaning spray known as Dust-Off.

• 8:47 a.m., a 21-year-old Idlewild man was arrested on four outstanding Lake County warrants related to traffic offenses following a call regarding a suspicious vehicle sitting in the middle of the road, Fountain Road west of Beaune Road, Hamlin Township.
• 11:55 a.m., retail fraud, Walmart, 4800 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. The case remains under investigation after a report of alleged under-ringing at a self-check out lane.
• 12:30 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Jagger Road west of Lincoln Road, Hamlin Township.
• 6:05 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Fisher Road, Hamlin Township.
• 6:33 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Anthony Road west of Brye Road, Summit Township.
• 6:35 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Johnson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
• 7:22 p.m., a 44 year-old Muskegon man was cited for driving while license suspended (DWLS) following a traffic stop, Pere Marquette Highway and Iris Road, Pere Marquette Township.

Saturday, Jan. 9. 2021:

• 8:52 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive south of Dewey Road, Hamlin Township.
• 5:23 p.m., gas drive-off, $15 in fuel stolen, Ludington EZ Mart, 5900 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
• 6:14 p.m., car/deer crash, no injury, Masten Road south of Anthony Road, Logan Township.

Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021:

• 12:01 p.m., alarm activation, Hamlin Township.
• 3:40 p.m., alarm activation, Pere Marquette Township.
