Griswold appointed to MCC board.

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central Board of Education selected Steve Griswold as its newest board member during its regular meeting Monday, Dec. 14. Four candidates initially applied to be considered for the board position left vacant after the resignation of long-time member Jeff Barnett: Steven Griswold, Tom McLouth, Oscar Davila, and Rebecca Frederick. McLouth dropped out of the selection process of moving outside the school district.

The board interviewed each of the three remaining candidates in a board retreat, open to the public, prior to the regular board meeting.

Griswold stated, in his letter of interest, that he grew up in Mason County and graduated from Mason County Eastern High School. He and his wife returned to Mason County five years ago. They have two children who both attend MCC. He is employed as the portfolio director at Jacobs Engineering Group. He is an attorney and earned his juris doctorate degree from Wayne State University. He also has a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University. “I look forward to applying what I’ve learned to collaboratively develop solutions with the other board members that will positively impact the future of Mason County Central Schools,” Griswold stated.

Griswold’s father, Grant, was a teacher and principal at Mason County Eastern.
