Parolee takes stolen paddle boat on joy ride in middle of lake.

SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP — A 36-year-old Manistee man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies Monday, Nov. 2, around 3 p.m. on charges of larceny and absconding parole after he allegedly stole a paddle boat and paddled it to the middle of Round Lake, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

“When captured, the suspect appeared under the influence of a controlled substance,” said Sheriff Cole.

Deputies were called to the scene in the 6500 block of East Sugar Grove Road.

The suspect remains lodged in the Mason County Jail.
