Fire destroys Branch Twp. house.

BRANCH TOWNSHIP — Fire destroyed a house Saturday afternoon. Branch Township Fire Department and Custer Fire Department were dispatched to the Allen Stakenas residence, 6175 E. Decker Road, at 12:05 p.m. Upon arrival of the first unit, the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames. Nobody was home at the time of the fire.

Fountain Area Fire Department, Scottville Fire Department, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Mason County Animal Control, and Life EMS also assisted.

According to sheriff’s deputies on scene, there were five cats in the house. Animal control was called to assist recovering the cats.

The origins of the fire were unknown at this time.
