Newaygo man dies following dirt bike crash.

LOGAN TOWNSHIP — A 41-year-old Newaygo County man died Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, following a single vehicle motorcycle crash. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, emergency personnel were dispatched to a report of an unconscious man near a dirt bike on Sippy Road near Whiskey Creek Resort about 4:05 p.m.

First responders located Brian Nelson Finch, dead at the scene, Cole said.

Preliminary findings indicate Finch was operating KTM350 dirt bike approximately 1.8 miles south of Sippy Road, on an ORV trail in the Whiskey Creek area, when he lost control, ran off the trail and was ejected off the bike, Cole said. The bike ended up landing on top of him.

Finch was riding alone and there were no witnesses to the crash It is believed he had crashed a few hours before being found, Cole said.

Emergency units responding included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan Department of Natural Resources law enforcement, Carr Area Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, Branch Fire Department and Life EMS.

The case remains under investigation by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
