Spartan River Races continuing as virtual events.

Spartan News is a presentation of Mason County Central Schools in cooperation with Mason County Press.

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central Educational Foundation’s annual Spartan River Races are still happening this year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the races are being run in a virtual format. 

Proceeds from this year’s events will be used for graduating senior scholarships for the class of 2021. 

The races are still taking place on the Pere Marquette River. Competitors have until Sept. 7 to complete the events. The events include: 

  1. Scottville to Ludington paddle race, approximately 12 miles.
  2. Individual Triathlon, bike 12 miles, run four miles (participant’s choice in locations), paddle from Custer to Scottville on Pere Marquette River, approximately 4.7 miles. 
  3. Team Triathlon, one member bikes 12 miles (their choice of location), another runs four miles (choice in location), and a third paddles from Custer to Scottville on PM River.

Cost is $25 per person participating.
