Americans Unite! march intended to show support for USA.

LUDINGTON — Brandi Fulker is tired of the divisiveness in our country. The Grant Township resident said she believes that Americans are more alike than they are different, despite what may be portrayed in the national news . For this reason, she is organizing a march, called Americans Unite!, for Saturday, Sept. 12. The march will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Mason County Courthouse and walk on the sidewalk west to Stearns Park.

“On the Fourth of July, I cried all day,” she said. “I just couldn’t believe that we actually cancelled the celebration of our nation’s independence. That’s when I decided I needed to do something, so I began organizing an event that would celebrate our nation and demonstrate our freedom.”

Fulker said the event is not about one political side or another but rather to celebrate the nation.

“I can’t stop people from attending this event carrying a President Trump flag or a Joe Biden flag, obviously that’s their right. But, this event is intended to be bipartisan and to show that no matter how one side or another feels, we love this country.”

Fulker said those attending should use their best judgement about what types of precautions they should take with social distancing and masks.

“This is a march to show unity,” she said. “Those who are uncomfortable being there may be able to find ways to show their support in other ways.”

Fulker said she has been in contact with Ludington Police Department, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, City of Ludington and Mason County about the march. She has also invited legislators and other elected officials to be in the march as well.
