79th District Court sentencings and dismissals, posted Aug. 15, 2020.

The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

-Stephen Robert Moreland Churchill, 36, of 109 Jefferson St., Manistee, pleaded no contest Aug. 11 to second degree retail fraud and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; one year discretionary jail for one year; and $810.63 in fines/costs/restitution. Two counts of steal/retain with financial transaction device were dismissed.

-Clayton Alan Kitchens, 27, of 5955 Shagway Rd., Hamlin Township, pleaded guilty Aug. 11 to disorderly person jostling and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 90 days discretionary jail for six months; no alcohol/drugs/marijuana; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; and $285 in fines/costs. A charge of domestic violence was dismissed.

-Ashley Ann Allen, 29, of 7 Park Ave., Apt. B, Manistee, pleaded guilty Aug. 11 to third degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for two years; no drugs/alcohol/marijuana; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must continue current counseling program; and $595 in fines/costs. May perform 60 hours of community service in lieu of fines/costs. 

-Brenda Marie Smith, 44, of 926 E. Tinkham Ave., Apt. 306, Ludington, pleaded no contest Aug. 11 to disturbing the peace and attempted assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; must attend AA three times per week for one year; no drugs/alcohol/marijuana; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must continue current counseling program; and $645 in fines/costs. Two counts of assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer were dismissed.

 

Dismissals

-Lamont Russell Sykes, 46, of 3220 S. Yale Ave., Baldwin, had charges of failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) and unlawful license plates dismissed on Aug. 10 after pleading guilty to a civil infraction of no proof of insurance.

-Lori Ann Simmons, 41, of 7065 N. Dennis Rd., Amber Township, had charges of failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) and driving while license not valid dismissed on Aug. 12 as part of a plea agreement.

-Billy Alen Sharnowski, 34, of 4386 N. 188th Ave., Walkerville, had charges of failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) and driving while license suspended dismissed on Aug. 12 as part of a plea agreement.

-Bruce William Kinney, 58, of 252 Iona Ave., Muskegon, had a charge of trespassing with an ORV dismissed on Aug. 12 after pleaded guilty to a civil infraction.

-Kainan Timothy Grant, 22, of 7888 Whitehall Rd., Whitehall, had a charge of trespassing with an ORV dismissed on Aug. 12 after pleaded guilty to a civil infraction.

– Annabella Kaylinn-Rose Sroka, 19, of 6717-A Andover Dr., Kalamazoo, had a charge of marine safety – trespassing on pier, dismissed on Aug. 14, 2020.
