Match Day raises over $450,000 for local nonprofit organizations.

The Community Foundation for Mason County’s Match Day, held on Aug. 5 in response to COVID-19’s impact on the community, raised over $450,000 for 16 nonprofits along the Lakeshore.

Match Day was developed by the Community Foundation with support from the Pennies from Heaven Foundation, Metalworks, and local donors to provide operating support to partner organizations that typically rely on private fundraising to fulfill their missions.

Of the gifts that came in, 17 donor advised funds held at the Community Foundation made 45 grants to nonprofits, 526 online donations reached over $98,000, and over $218,000 in checks were collected by the participating organizations. When combined with a match pool of $106,200, the full amount raised for Mason County’s nonprofit community on Match Day was $451,884.

In addition to a $30,000 grant from the Community Foundation’s Unrestricted Funds, the following sources funded the match pool: Wayne and Jeanie Mortensen, Snyder Foundation, the Epworth Fund for Ludington, Pennies from Heaven Foundation, Metalworks, Budde and Sheryl Reed, Marianne Johnson, Ross and Kimberley Donley, and Barry and Evelyn Matthews.
