Fire destroys boat at Tamarac

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — A fire destroyed a 22-foot recreation boat Friday, Aug. 7 at Tamarac Village. Hamlin Township Fire Department was called to the scene at 6:28 p.m. for a report of a fully engulfed boat fire. The fire department was assisted by Mason County Sheriff’s Office marine patrol deputies. Deputy Mark Willis used a sheriff’s office boat to place himself between the burning boat and the docks to prevent further damage, according to Sheriff Kim Cole. Cole said all passengers were able to safely leave the boat.
