LASD board to discuss back to school plan.

LUDINGTON — The Ludington Area School District Board of Education is expected to discuss the district’s return to school plan when it meets tonight at 6 p.m. Under the 142nd executive order of Gov. Whitmer, the COVID-19 preparedness and response plan is required seven days before the start of the school year, which is Aug. 15.

The district plans to hold a public comment and review period to help further assess what happens over the next few weeks.

A final decision is expected during the board’s next meeting on Monday, Aug. 10.

The board is also expected to take action on non-union contracts and service agreements and also on the hiring of two new teachers: Jennifer Shaw, O.J. DeJonge Middle School counselor, replacing Amy Marsh, who retired; Warren Stowe, secondary science teacher at Ludington High School, replacing Mark Willis, who has been hired by the West Shore Educational Service District as agriscience teacher.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. and will be conducted as a virtual meeting. Members of the public who wish to join the meeting may do so by calling +1-337-441-2664 and then enter the personal identification number (PIN) 517 669 315#.
