PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Two Mason County sheriff’s deputies captured a 49-year-old Minot, North Dakota man who fled from them in a vehicle and on foot after allegedly shoplifting at Walmart Sunday evening, July 19, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The deputies were on patrol and spotted the suspect’s vehicle headed westbound on US 10 following a “be on the lookout” alert,” Sheriff Cole said. “The vehicle attempted to elude deputies by cutting through the McDonald’s parking lot. The suspect parked behind the McDonald’s and ran on foot. He was captured by deputies following a foot chase.”

The suspect was arrested shortly after 7:30 p.m. on charges of resisting/obstructing police, retail fraud and driving while license suspended. He remains lodged in the Mason County Jail.
