Police investigate identity theft involving unemployment benefits.

MASON COUNTY — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office received two complaints Thursday of identity theft involving unemployment benefits, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

In both cases, “the complainant reported that an unknown person applied for unemployment benefits in their name,” said Sheriff Cole.

One case was reported in Hamlin Township, and the other was reported in Amber Township.
