Stiles & Sugar Grove changing to 3-way stop.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The intersection of Stiles and Sugar Grove roads will temporarily be changed to a three-way stop due to the current detour route caused by the closure of US 31 between US 10 and Sugar Grove Road. Normally, Stiles Road has the right-of-way with Sugar Grove stopping. Beginning Monday, July 13, all three directions (Sugar Grove does not continue west past Stiles) will stop.

The $2.4 million resurfacing and drainage project is in its third phase. The previous phase was the closure of the highway between US 10 and Scottville Road along the Scottville bypass. For several weeks the detour went along Main Street in Scottville. On Tuesday, July 7, the detour was changed to allow for total closure 3.74 miles of the highway. This has caused some confusion among motorists as they continue to drive north on Main Street in Scottville only to discover that the road is closed at Johnson Road. Scottville Police Department is working with the Michigan Department of Transportation to post better signage. Police Chief Matt Murphy warned that motorists that disregard construction signs can be ticketed.

Additional message boards, stop ahead and rumble strips  will be placed on Stiles Road giving motorists advanced warning.
