Driver in Sunday motorcycle crash identified.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Ronald Paul Curtis, 56, of Fountain has been identified as the driver of the motorcycle involved in a single vehicle motorcycle/deer crash Sunday evening, May 3. Emergency units were called to US 31, about half mile north of the Pere Marquette Highway on-ramp at 6:11 p.m. Curtis was traveling northbound when his bike struck the deer. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Health Hackley Campus in Muskegon.

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said he does not have any updates on Curtis’ condition. Cole said alcohol nor speed were factors in the crash. Curtis was wearing a helmet while driving a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Responding emergency units included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS.
