Scottville band shell season cancelled, except for Clown Band shows.

SCOTTVILLE — The Scottville Clown Band Shell committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Tuesday night summer concert series, with the possible exception of the two scheduled Scottville Clown Band concerts.

The concert series, which began in 1989, is Mason County’s longest consecutively running summer music series.
“Our decision to cancel the season was based on the need to current health issue and also on the current economic issue,” co-chair Rob Alway said. “Co-chair Nancy Sanford and I decided that in this time of economic uncertainty that we just really cannot ask any business or individual to donate money to this cause.”

The band shell relies on an annual fundraising campaign to pay for shell maintenance and performers.
“Because the shell is ‘home’ of the Scottville Clown Band, we did decide to let the band make its own decision on whether it will perform or not,” said Alway, who is also treasurer of the Scottville Clown Band.

At this time, the band has chosen to keep both its June 30 and August 18 concerts on its schedule. It will re-evaluate that decision later in May.
