No bulk refuse pickup in Scottville this month.

SCOTTVILLE — Residents in the City of Scottville are reminded that there is no bulk item refuse pickup this week, due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Typically, the first Tuesday of the month is bulk item day.

The city is still planning to hold a clean-up week later this month, which include the opportunity for large bulk items, for a fee.

Clean-up week will take place April 27 through May 2 in the city. The week will include opportunities for residents to clean up additional garbage along with yard waste as well. The city already offers curbside removal of one large item on the first Tuesday of each month which is included in refuse services.

  • Thursday, April 30 — Curbside yard waste will take place, including branches, brush and bagged yard waste. Branches/brush must be cut into sections less than 4-feet long, securely tied and bundled, not to exceed 35 pounds in weight. Bagged leaves, clippings and plant materials should be placed in compost bags, which can be purchased at city hall for 50 cents each or $5 per package. Paper compost bags from home improvement stores are also acceptable. Do not mix fruit, vegetables, trash or animal droppings with yard waste. Not to exceed 35 pounds. Weekly curbside compost service will start later in the spring. All materials should be place on property right-of-way adjacent to the street by no later than 7 a.m. on pick-up day. Residents with large amounts of brush should contact city hall for additional arrangements. Residents can always deliver brush and compostable materials to the compost piles behind the DPW building on First Street.
  • Saturday, May 2 — Open top dumpsters will be available at the DPW building on West First Street for residents to dispose of non-hazardous waste materials. Dumpsters will be available from 8 a.m. to noon, unless they are filled sooner, on a first come basis. Volunteers will be available to help direct, but those delivering are expected to unload their own materials. No paint, powders, liquids, drugs/medical waste, batteries, or any other hazardous materials will be accepted. Proof of residency is required. All loads are subject to inspection. Rates are: single large item/small load (fits in a car trunk), $10; two to three large items/medium load (partial truck or SUV load), $15; full truckload/small utility trailer, $25; large trailer load, $35 to $50.
