Empty Bowls auction and event to raise money for Lakeshore Food Club.

LUDINGTON — The Lakeshore Food Club has launched an online auction to help raise funds. The auction will end on Wednesday, March 4 and then there will be a special Empty Bowls event on Saturday, March 7 at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts, 107 S. Harrison St.

“We are so grateful to our very giving sponsors who have donated items and experiences to the Empty Bowls Online Auction,” said Sarah McMahon, director of the Lakeshore Food Club. “The generosity here in Mason County and beyond is outstanding and we look forward to continuing our mission at the Lakeshore Food Club with these proceeds.”

Items donated for the Empty Bowls Online Auction include a Flyboarding Experience for two from West Michigan Flyboarding, a 10-class pack from Lotus of Ludington, a round trip for two from the S.S. Badger and a round of golf for four from Betsie Valley Golf Course. These experiences are among the 50 handmade items, gift cards and experiences up for bidding.

The Empty Bowls Online Auction runs from now until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4. Winning bidders can pick up their items at the Lakeshore Food Club, 920 E. Tinkham Ave. For more information on the auction, visit www.lakeshorefoodclub.org.

The Empty Bowls event will have live music, local food, and a one of kind beer from Starving Artist Brewing Company of Ludington, brewed special for the Empty Bowls event, called Feeding Frenzy.

Tickets are available for $25 each at www.lakeshorefoodclub.org. Each purchased ticket will receive a locally crafted ceramic bowl as a reminder of the food insecurity that many Mason County residents face.

All proceeds from the Empty Bowls Online Auction and Empty Bowls Event benefit the Lakeshore Food Club and are being matched dollar for dollar by Pennies from Heaven Foundation.
