LUDINGTON — A 12-member jury found a 54-year-old Branch Township man guilty of resisting and opposing a sheriff’s deputy causing injury following a criminal trial in 51st Circuit Court Thursday, Feb. 13, according to Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.

Robb Ray Dodson, of 6925 E. Bockstandz Road, will be sentenced April 7.

The jury verdict rendered its verdict at 5 p.m. after approximately an hour and a half of deliberation, Spaniola said. The verdict came exactly one year after Dodson’s arrest on Feb. 13, 2019.

“On behalf of Assistant Prosecuting Attorney John Middlebrook who tried the case, I thank the 12 jurors who took time out of their busy schedules to listen to the witnesses and consider the evidence and make a just decision in this case,” Spaniola said. “I also thank the witnesses who took time to come to court and testify as to the facts of the case. Our criminal justice system cannot successfully function without the active participation of citizens as jurors and as witnesses. We appreciate their service.”

Dodson assaulted Sgt. John Balowski who had been investigating a child custody matter in the 6600 block of East US 10.

Dodson remains free on bond pending sentencing.
