3rd offense drunk driving, resisting arrest charges top recent arraignments.

LUDINGTON — The following were recently arraigned in Mason County’s 79th District Court.

Felonies

Rangel

-Joseph Guadalupe Rangel, 39, of Chauvez Rd., Pere Marquette Township, was arrested Jan. 29 by the Ludington Police Department (LPD) on felony charges of third offense operating a vehicle while impaired by liquor (OUIL), assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer, and transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle. Probable cause hearing: Feb. 12 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $7,500/10 percent.

Beach

-John Douglas Beach, 43, of 384 Second St., Manistee, was arrested Oct. 30 by the State’s, Sheriff’s, Chief’s Enforcement Narcotics Team (SSCENT) on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Probable cause hearing: Feb. 12 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $7,500/10 percent.

Misdemeanors

-James Leigh Ferrier, 27, of 8969 E. US 10, Branch; Jan. 28; Michigan State Police (MSP); domestic violence. Pretrial: Feb. 10 at 10:15 a.m. Bail: $2,500/10 percent.

-Cheryl Lynn Baker, 68, of 3062 S. Custer Rd., Eden Township; Jan. 30; Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO); third degree retail fraud. Pretrial: Feb. 10 at 9:30 a.m. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance.

-Danielle Renee Smith, 37, of PO Box 134, Custer; Nov. 8; MCSO; failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance). Pretrial: Feb. 3 at 9:30 a.m. Bail: $1,500/10 percent.

The following sentencings and dismissals took place in 79th District Court.

Sentencings

-Amanda Lynn Steffes, 29, of 1116 Brandy Ln., Pere Marquette Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 4 to operating a vehicle while impaired by a controlled substance and truancy and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must ensure children attend school without any unexcused absences or tardies; must sign an authorization to release CMH records; must attend victim’s impact panel; no drugs/alcohol/marijuana/controlled substances; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; and $895 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State. Charges of failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance), and four additional counts of truancy were dismissed.

Dismissals

-Christina Elizabeth Johnston, 38, of 835 N. Intermediate Lake Rd., Central Lake, had a charge of assault and batter dismissed without prejudice on Jan. 27 per a prosecutor’s deferral agreement.
