Ludington man arrested following two hit-and-run crashes.
AMBER TOWNSHIP — Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 36-year-old Ludington man today, Wednesday, Nov. 26, following two hit-and-run crashes.
According to Sheriff Kim Cole, law enforcement started looking for the man following an 11:14 a.m. crash at the corner of US 10/31 and Brye Road. A vehicle description and partial plate was provided to law enforcement but deputies were unable to locate the suspect vehicle at that time.
At 1:54 p.m., an MCSO deputy patrolling US 10/31 at Brye Road spotted a vehicle matching that of the earlier crash sitting roadside with a female arguing with that driver. As the deputy pulled up to investigate, the suspect pushed the female away and fled eastbound on the highway, Cole said. The female had reported to the deputy the vehicle had just struck her vehicle at the traffic light — a second incident separate from the earlier crash.
The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle fled eastbound on US 10/31 then north on Dennis Road where the vehicle attempted to go into a parking lot.
The suspect was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated on alcohol, third offense, two counts of hit-and-run, and fleeing and eluding a police officer.
There were no injuries in either traffic crash.
