Court News: Strangulation charge tops recent arraignments.

LUDINGTON — The following  were recently arraigned in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

Felonies

Hamilton

-Justin Michael Hamilton, 31, of 4705 E. Fisher Rd., Sherman Township, was arrested Nov. 17 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on a felony charge of assault by strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). Probable cause hearing: Nov. 27 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $10,000 cash/surety.

Totten

-Jesse Allen Totten, 21, homeless, was arrested Nov. 16 by MCSO on a felony charge of breaking and entering a building. Probable cause hearing: Nov. 27 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $10,000 cash/surety.

Branch

-Shawna Rae Branch, 28, of 144 Pierce Dr., White Cloud, was arrested Nov. 13 by MCSO on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy). Probable cause hearing: Nov. 27 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $10,000 cash/surety.

Case

-Matthew Jason Case, 46, of 926 E. Tinkham Ave., Apt. 313, Ludington, was arrested Nov. 14 by the Ludington Police Department (LPD) on a felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender. Probable cause hearing: Nov. 20 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $2,500 cash.

Lockhart

-Ashley Marie Lockhart, 33, of 204 S. Dryden St., Apt. F, Hart, was arrested Nov. 16 by MCSO on a felony charge of embezzlement by an agent/trustee and a misdemeanor charge of second degree retail fraud. Probable cause hearing: Nov. 27 at 1:30 p.m. Bail: $2,500/10 percent.

Misdemeanors

-Michael Alan Eager, 46, of 2897 S. Doty Rd., Branch; Nov. 17; Scottville Police Department; second offense OWI. Pretrial: Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m. Bail: $2,500/10 percent.

-Haley Nicole Janicki, 25, of 7919 E. Navajo Trl., Branch Township; Nov. 12; MCSO; domestic violence. Pretrial: Nov. 25 at 2:15 p.m. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance.

-Brandon Paul Wheeler, Jr., 31, of 409 E. Fourth St., Apt. 1, Ludington; Nov. 16; LPD; driving while license suspended. Pretrial: Dec. 2 at 10:45 a.m. Bail: $1,500/10 percent.

 

79th District Court sentencings

The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

-Daniel Edward Rushlow, 43, of 148 N. Gordon Rd., Amber Township, pleaded no contest Nov. 6 to domestic violence and was sentenced to ten days in jail with credit for ten days served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must have substance abuse evaluation; no contact with the victim; no drugs/alcohol/marijuana; subject to random PBTs and drug tests;  must cooperate with Child Protective Services; and $595 in fines/costs. Charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and third offense habitual offender were dismissed.
