SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP – A 24-year-old Mason County man wanted on four warrants was captured by Mason County sheriff’s deputies after hiding in a crawl space at a residence in the 6500 block of East Glenn Lane Thursday afternoon, Nov. 7, and then running from deputies for about a quarter mile, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m., deputies — acting on information of a wanted person — responded to the home.

“As deputies approached the residence, the suspect – who is known to law enforcement – fled from under a crawl space,” Cole said. “An MCSO deputy was able to grab the suspect. However, both ended up on the ground as the suspect resisted arrest. The suspect was able to break free from the deputy and then fled on foot. He was captured following a foot chase of about a quarter mile.”

Deputies are seeking a warrant for resisting and opposing arrest – in addition to his four warrants. Two Mason County warrants charge a five-count probation violation and failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge, the sheriff said. The other two are Lake County warrants.

The 27-year-old female homeowner was also arrested for probation violation, and deputies are seeking an additional charge of harboring a fugitive.
