Trooper arraigned on drunk driving charge.

HART – The 26-year-old Michigan State Police trooper who was arrested for operating while intoxicated Oct. 6 was arraigned in Oceana County’s 78th District Court.

Conner Ray Crutchfield of Pentwater remains employed at the Hart post, but is currently not on road patrol, said Sgt. Charles Hockanson. He is currently handling “administrative duties,” he said.

Crutchfield was arrested by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office while off-duty. He was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Wayne Road near the US 31 overpass, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast. Deputies were called to the scene at 1:23 a.m. and found the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a corner, went off the road and struck several trees, Mast said. The crash caused heavy damage to the Chevrolet Cruze he was driving.

“The driver was subsequently arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol,” Mast said. “He submitted to a blood draw at Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby and then was lodged in the Mecosta County Jail.”

Crutchfield, whose bail was set at $3,500/cash/surety/10 percent, has a pretrial in district court scheduled for Oct. 31 at 2:45 p.m., according to court staff.
