Alleged drunk driver destroys Ludington Avenue porch.

LUDINGTON — A vehicle destroyed a porch in the 800 block of Ludington Avenue early Sunday morning, earning the driver a trip to jail. The incident happened about 4 a.m. when a 19-year-old Ludington man was driving westbound on Ludington Avenue, veered off the road and struck the roofed porch. The man was driving a 1999 Dodge Durango, which, prior to hitting the porch, struck and damaged a fire hydrant at the northwest corner of Ludington Avenue and Staffon Street. The vehicle then traveled west across three lawns on the north side of Ludington Avenue and damaged a house sign before hitting the house.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was arrested by Ludington Police Department on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resisting and obstructing a police officer, and malicious destruction of police property. He was lodged at the Mason County Jail.
